HOTEL INDUSTRY AWARDS EXPAND TO REFLECT SUCCESS

A new and expanded Hotel Industry Awards has been launched to recognise individuals who are doing an outstanding job in key roles, from housekeeping to general manager, and contributing to the sector’s overall success.

The new-look awards programme has been scaled up from just three awards to eight individual awards plus an award for a hotel showing real innovation to help neutralise its impact on the environment.

“We expanded the awards to acknowledge individuals across the many diverse roles that go into the running of a great hotel,” said Sally Attfield, hotel sector manager of the Tourism Industry Association New Zealand (TIA), which co-hosts the awards with Horwath HTL.

“These awards will set a benchmark of excellence and celebrate the stars who are vital players in a sector that is committed to delivering a fantastic guest experience.”

Co-host Horwath HTL is delighted to be supporting the New Zealand hotel sector’s premier awards programme, said director Stephen Hamilton.

“The new and expanded awards will profile a sector that is enjoying record results and is helping drive the growth of the wider tourism industry, which is now New Zealand’s number one export earner.”

Entries for the New Zealand Hotel Industry Awards 2016 open on 15 March.

The winners will be announced at a gala dinner at The Langham, Auckland on 2 June, the culmination of the 2016 New Zealand Hotel Industry conference.
