Proudly New Zealand owned and operated since 1997, Jayen Food Concepts Ltd supply and install simple and easy-to-operate branded food systems with a wealth of knowledge in hot food. Business development manager Leanne Prujean talked to us about expansion and major business changes.
What is your company background, how did you start the business?
“Jayen Food Concepts Ltd was founded in 1997 by John Neal after working for similar companies for several years.”
What are the current product range and variants and how do these products stand out in the market?
“Our product range includes our well-renowned dairy free Cosmo’s Chicken Coating and Chicken Salt along with Lemo Pepo seasoning, Spicy Harissa seasoning, branded packaging, auto lift fryers and hot food cabinets, which we have produced for many years. We are now expanding our range of items to service the takeaway business including all types of generic packaging such as coffee cups, milkshake cups, pizza boxes, trays and racks, kitchen equipment, pizza ovens, instant potato and gravy mix, fruit juices and cleaning products.”
Has there been any recent company news?
“Earlier this year John brought in his partner Jan, son-in-law Mark and myself as business partners so there have been some major changes to the business and staff in the last few months.”
What are the plans for the business moving forward, is there any expansion on the horizon?
“We are planning on continuing to expand the business and introduce new product lines.”
Where are your products currently available to buy, and are you looking at or wanting to expand your availability? If so, where would you like to see the product situated?
“Our retail seasonings are available in selected convenience stores, Pak ‘n Saves, New Worlds and Four Squares throughout the country. Our coating and 2kg chicken salt are available from selected Gilmours stores and distributors throughout the country. All of our products are available direct from ourselves or on TradeMe under member listing jfcltd. We are about to launch an e-commerce website, www.jayen.co.nz, which will also have our full range, plus we are about to list products on www.b2bexchange.co.nz which is a new wholesale website offering exclusive deals to businesses.”
