AVANI Hotels & Resorts has announced the acquisition of Metro Suites in Auckland, in a deal worth over $11 million. The AVANI chain already has an impressive portfolio of 18 hotels around the world and although this will be their first New Zealand resort, parent company Minor Hotels maintains a presence in the country through the two Oaks Hotels & Resorts buildings in Queenstown.
As well as a major refurbishment, Metro Suites will be rebranded as Metropolis AVANI Residences, with changes set to take effect by October 2017. Rooms will feature grand living and dining spaces, highly equipped kitchens and laundry facilities and breathtaking views of the city. Leisure facilities include a 22-metre heated swimming pool, indoor and outdoor spas, gym, sauna and steam room.
