REVIEW: I, TONYA

I, Tonya the dark comedy based on the unbelievable events surrounding Tonya Harding and the lead up to the 1994 Winter Olympics. This movie, directed by Craig Gillespie, was thought-provoking and an honest depiction of the disgraced figure skater’s life. At times I found myself sympathising with the skater, who was constantly abused throughout her childhood and adult life. The breaking of the fourth wall allows for the character to explain fabricated stories and give reasoning for her behaviours. Margot Robbie was excellent, as always, and gave a convincing portrayal of the “Hillbilly” ice skater come infamous ‘C’ list celeb. All and all I really enjoyed this movie and would recommend it to a friend. You decide if she did it…
