A brand new high-end hotel suited for both the leisure and business luxury traveller is under development in Christchurch, as the city continues to transform, and the population grows in the surrounding suburbs. Sudima Hotels and Resorts has appointed Maree Welgus as Hotel Manager for the new development, Sudima Christchurch City.
The luxury hotel is due to open in early 2019 and will be home to 86 self-contained rooms including six suites and two penthouses. The hotel complex will feature fully accessible rooms, an on-site restaurant, day spa, and adjoining corporate offices, all managed by Sudima Christchurch City’s new Hotel Manager. This will be Sudima’s second hotel in the region, and the group is proud to be part of the thriving development of Christchurch’s CBD area. The hotel aims to raise the bar for high-end and quality accommodation options for the city.
Currently, Executive Assistant Manager for Sudima Lake Rotorua, Maree is an experienced industry professional, having held management positions for various top-end hotels and spas internationally. She has worked on several developments throughout her career and is looking forward to managing the Sudima Christchurch City development from the driver’s seat.
In addition to Maree’s proven management track record, she has also been influential in Sudima’s accessibility achievements (each hotel is rated between Bronze and Gold for accessibility by Be. Accessible) and is part of Be. Accessible’s Be. Leadership alumni, mentoring young achievers with access needs into employment.
