FIRST SEAPLANE IN 50 YEARS LAUNCHES IN TAHITI

A new commercial seaplane company in Tahiti is opening. Starting this week, the Tahiti Air Charter will begin flying in and over the islands of Tahiti. It will be based in Raiatea, just 20 minutes from Bora Bora by plane.

The service offers scenic flights over locales like Bora Bora, the famous heart-shaped island Tupai, and the broader Society Islands. They also provide full-day excursions, where passengers will fly over the unique Tahitian landscapes, dropped deep into the islands to explore the vegetation or enjoy a prepared meal, as well as experience the aircraft landing on the sea. Furthermore, they offer private inter-island charters to seldom explored and undiscovered islands, or wherever guests interests take them, with the ability to fly anywhere up to 1682km away.

With a capacity of eight people, the plane can land on both water and land. The aircraft, Cessna 208, is a quiet plane, maintaining the peace and tranquillity of a Tahiti getaway. The service also brings a chance for local Tahiti island residents to reach the most inaccessible islands for needs like freight transportation.

The Cessna 208 is initially the only aircraft in the fleet, but Tahiti Air Charter intends to expand their list of available aircraft and flight capacities. The Degage group is responsible for launching the Tahiti Air Charter, marking the arrival of the first French seaplane in 50 years.
