The New Zealand International Convention Centre and Hobson St hotel project is facing a further six-month delay.
This postponement is the second time SkyCity Entertainment Group has had to delay the $703 million project. Initially scheduled for completion in February 2019, it was previously pushed back to mid-2019 after Fletcher Building ran into issues with cost blowouts. With this latest delay, the project is now expected to be finished in December 2019.
The first stage of the convention centre’s car park, which holds 600 car parks, is still on schedule to be completed June this year.
Fletcher Building, the construction company overseeing the project, has been struggling as of late following earning downgrades and the ousting of chief executive Mark Adamson.
