Heritage Christchurch has added to its growing list of accolades at the Canterbury Heritage Awards.

The hotel was presented the award in the Heritage Tourism category on June 15.

“We are honoured to receive this award. It is a huge endorsement for Heritage Hotels and what we stand for. We consider ourselves privileged custodians of this very special building,” said Gary Jarvis, Chief Operating Officer of Heritage Hotel Management Ltd.

“We are delighted daily by the engagement of visitors with the building’s unique history and grandeur. The ‘heritage’ factor is a strong motivation for guests choosing to stay with us,” said Astrid Hay, resident manager of Heritage Christchurch.”

The hotel has previously won awards at the World Luxury Hotel Awards in the Luxury Heritage Hotel and Historic Hotel categories.

The old government building, which the hotel resides in, opened in 1913 and was designed by famed late 19th and early 20th-century architect Joseph Clarkson Maddison.
