Adelaide’s General Post Office building is being transformed into the city’s first Westin branded hotel.

Marriot International announced The Westin Adelaide would open in 2022, following an agreement between Marriot and Greaton Group, the project’s developer.

The $200 million 15-storey, 285-room project will join Adelaide’s growing CBD skyline, offering expansive views of the city and Victoria Square. It expects to bring 250 permanent jobs to the area.

“Visitor numbers are at a record high and are on track to increase by 5.1% in the next 10 years, as people seek out the beautiful beaches, world-renowned wineries and beautiful scenery South Australia is famed for,” said Marriott International area vice president Sean Hunt.

Westin currently operates three properties in Australia – Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth – and will grow to seven in the coming years as projects in Brisbane, Darwin, the Sunshine Coast and Adelaide come to fruition.
