Fiji’s Industry, Trade and Tourism Minister Faiyaz Siddiq Koya has thanked the Australian timeshare industry’s contribution to the Fijian tourism industry.

“For close to 20 years, Australian timeshare companies have contributed to the employment of thousands of Fijian people across many fields. It is a sector which often goes unrecognised and yet has a significant impact on our tourism industry,” said Faiyaz Siddiq Koya.

Australian timeshare operations attract over 50,000 holidaymakers to Fiji each year, more than FJD$23 million in visitor spending annually.

Timeshare resorts in Fiji hire over 420 people directly, and also supports the construction, retail, and transportation sectors as well as helping a wide range of tours, attractions, goods and services providers.

Barry Robinson, president of international operations at Wyndham Vacation Clubs promised to continue helping the Fijian communities where it operates and that the company will donate 800 children’s books to school and villages across the country. Additionally, Wyndham will fund the repairs of a Narewa pre-school.
