In the secluded forest of Wildhaus in the Swiss Alps, Zero Real Estate has set up a new project, Schwendi Suite – a hotel room with no walls, windows or roof. The design was masterminded by Swiss concept artists Frank and Patrik Riklin in partnership with Daniel Charbonnier. With a current waiting list of over 4,500 people, the three available suites allow guests to sleep under the stars with views of the Safien Valley. Access to the experience is through Hotel Alpenrose from which staff escort guests directly to the private location.
The suits were designed to allow a hotel experience in captivating surroundings without being encumbered by windows and walls and are available for just 45 days a year. First of the three suits, ‘Burst Suite’ sits above the Toggenburg valley at the foot of the Alpstein massif. The ‘Schwendi Suite’ is above a small lake in the Wildhaus forest – the Schwendiseen. Lastly, ‘Stump Suite’ is set under a canopy of trees near Hotel Alpenrose and is located conveniently close to Alpenrose’s wellness spa. Each reservation provides guests with breakfast delivered to their bed, a personal butler and a backup room in the hotel in case of bad weather.
