SKYCITY Grand Hotel’s Carmen Leong will represent New Zealand at the World Receptionist of the Year competition in London, after being named Receptionist of the Year at the AICR awards.
“Carmen is a really valued member of our team, and we’re delighted to see her heading off to represent SKYCITY and New Zealand on the world stage. She is very deserving, and we are just so proud of her,” said Colette Leonard, manager, SKYCITY Grand Hotel.
Following placing runner-up in the North Island competition this October, Leong went up against other receptionists across all New Zealand, where she won the coveted Receptionist of the Year award.
Each year, AICR, the international association for deputy managers and front office managers of luxury hotels, runs competitions to find the best luxury hotel receptionists.
“This is a great achievement for Carmen, and we look forward to the international competition. This will follow a string of recent success on the international scene with Priyanka Sharma from CityLife Auckland finishing second runner-up in 2017 and Tim Gordon finishing second overall in this year’s competition in Switzerland,” said David Latu, president, AICR New Zealand.
