New Art Series Brisbane opening March 2019

Art Series Hotels is opening its eighth property on the Howard Smith Wharves precinct, Brisbane in March 2019. It is the first Art Series hotel to join the brand since AccorHotels acquired Mantra Group and took the reins of all its brands.

The $60 million hotel will be built into the cliff under the Story Bridge and will feature 166 guest rooms with contemporary furnishings and original artworks.

“The stunning new flagship hotel at Howard Smith Wharves is a strong sign of AccorHotels’ belief in the much-loved brand and will kick start our plans for future growth across Australia and New Zealand,” said Simon McGrath, chief operating officer Pacific, Simon McGrath.

SJB Architects designed the hotel with natural tones and textures on the exterior to blend it into the cliff face. The guest rooms will all have spectacular views across the Brisbane River and of cascading greenery.

Art Series was privately owned by the Deague family until Mantra Group acquired it last year. The new hotel is being developed by Deague Group under the eye of CEO Will Deague.

“As of one of Australia’s fastest-growing capital cities with a burgeoning art culture, Brisbane continues to remain a major focus for the Group,” said Will Deague, CEO, Deague Group.

“With an increasing demand for accommodation, we are excited to introduce a second dedicated art led offering as part of the city’s expansion and are confident this luxury boutique development at Howard Street Wharves will only entice even more visitors to Brisbane.”

Each Art Series hotel has a namesake artist. The Brisbane hotel will announce its namesake artist next month.
