Bali hotel bans phones from its pool

Ayana Resort & Spa in Bali has banned all electronic devices from its ‘River Pool’.

The ban is effective from nine in the morning until five in the evening and has been instituted to make the river’s environment as peaceful and relaxing as possible.

Guests won’t be able to make calls, text, post on Instagram or even take pictures at the pool, and instead, the devices will be secured in lockers.

“Our intention is to preserve who we are by valuing human connection and me-time,” said a spokesperson for Ayana Resort & Spa.

“The ethos of the River Pool is to create a place of tranquillity, where our guests can truly relax.”

For guests who are desperate to snap a picture, there is still the opportunity to take photos between seven and nine in the morning and five to seven in the evening, when the electronics ban is not enforced.
