Virgin and Qantas cracking down on oversized carry-on

Man stows luggage on plane

Virgin Australia is joining Qantas to crack down on domestic passengers in Australia bringing oversized carry-on baggage.

All passengers on Australian domestic flights will now have their carry-on weighed, and any passenger with luggage exceeding seven-kilograms will have to check their cargo in and pay the fee. The weighing of all carry-on is effective immediately.

Qantas had previously announced it would weigh passenger’s carry-on baggage, following flight delays caused by passengers trying to bring oversized baggage on the flight.
