Marriott Bonvoy is Marriott’s new loyalty programme

Marriott International has announced the name for its new loyalty programme. ‘Bonvoy’ is merging the three loyalty brands Marriott Rewards, The Ritz-Carlton Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest all under the new name.

“Marriott Bonvoy marks an evolution in travel because it represents more than a loyalty programme,” said Stephanie Linnartz, global chief commercial officer, Marriott International.

“Marriott Bonvoy is a travel programme designed to bring to life our extraordinary portfolio of global brands in 129 countries and territories, while also providing endless inspiration for members to keep travelling and pursuing their passions.”

The programme will be launched on February 13. In August 2018, Marriott attempted to launch a programme merging the brands, but the process will finally complete its integration under one roof as Marriott Bonvoy.

Very little is changing with the launch of Bonvoy, as all three programmes previously operated almost identically using the same account for earning and using points. The loyalty programme still offers five elite tiers, with the two highest of them being renamed.

Members who are currently using the Starwood Preferred Guest or The Ritz-Carlton Rewards app are encouraged to download the Marriott app, which will automatically update under the Marriott Bonvoy banner on February 13, and the other apps will be deactivated at the same time.
