Marina Bay Sands expanding, 1000 rooms on the way

Marina Bay Sands in Singapore has announced a significant expansion plan.

The hotel has entered into a development agreement with the Singapore government who will continue supporting the development.

The project will be located adjacent to the existing Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort. Its key elements include the development of a 15,000-seat arena, a luxury hotel tower and additional conferencing space.

“Marina Bay Sands is an iconic tourism destination that has exceeded all of our hopes in growing leisure and business tourism in Singapore, and it is a privilege to receive the Singapore government’s continued support of its development,” said Sheldon G. Adelson, chairman and chief executive officer, Las Vegas Sands.

The hotel tower will bring with it approximately 1,000 new all-suite rooms, setting a new standard of luxury. The property will also have a sky roof with an atrium and terraces, a swimming pool, its own signature restaurant, and a combination of meeting rooms, ballrooms and exhibition halls.

“New luxury hotel accommodations and a world-class entertainment venue are exactly the catalysts we need to drive additional visitation to Singapore, and specifically to Marina Bay Sands,” said Rob Goldstein, company president and chief operating officer, Las Vegas Sands.
