Negative results for Asia-Pacific in Q1

Hotels in the Asia Pacific region reported a decrease in occupancy, average daily rate and RevPAR in the first quarter of 2019 according to STR.

Every region in the Asia Pacific (Central and South Asia, Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, Australasia and Oceania) reported declines in the three key metrics.

The most notable change was in RevPAR, with the regions averaging a -3.5 percent decline. Occupancy decreased by -2.1 percent and RevPAR averaged a -3.5 decline.

Of the regions, Southeast Asia had the biggest drop, with occupancy decreasing by -4.1 percent, and ADR by -0.8 percent, and RevPAR by -3.8 percent.
