IHG is planning a new-build Holiday Inn in Queenstown's Remarkables Park.
IHG has signed an agreement with QLong Investments Limited to open the flagship Holiday Inn property in 2021.
The 182-room hotel will be located just a few minutes’ drive from Queenstown Airport and The Remarkables Ski Field.
“Queenstown is a tourism mecca, attracting more than 3.6 million visitor nights annually with an expanding events calendar that attracts domestic and overseas visitors,” said Yigang Wang, director of QLong Investments.
“We expect this momentum to continue, and are confident that Holiday Inn Queenstown Remarkables Park will contribute to that success.”
For IHG, the success of its current Queenstown properties and the brand’s focus on growing in regional areas were key to signing the new hotel.
“Our existing hotels in Queenstown are performing extremely well, and this new Holiday Inn will complement them perfectly, along with the upcoming Holiday Inn Express which will open in 2020,” said Abhijay Sandilya, senior director of development, IHG.
The hotel will be built in a wider Remarkables Park development which consists of a 150-hectare multi-use retail, residential, recreational and resort zone. Holiday Inn will be located a few hundred metres from the retail and commercial centre of the Park.
