Council decides Bluff’s Club Hotel won’t be demolished

The Southland Bluff Oyster and Food Festival Charitable Trust’s motion to demolish the Club Hotel has been declined.

The Trust had applied for resource consent to demolish the four buildings that form the Club Hotel.

However, the Invercargill City Council declined permission for the demolition based on its heritage values in the Invercargill district plan, and because it could cause significant adverse for the environment.

The property is listed as a category 2 heritage building by Heritage New Zealand.
