Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific has adopted a plan to remove disposable plastic straws from 34 of its managed resorts and hotels in the Asia Pacific.

Once the initiative is implemented on 1 July, 2019, Wyndham estimates it will eliminate the use of 400,000 straws per year.

“Of the estimated eight million tonnes of plastic litter that flow every year into the world’s oceans, plastic straws are one of the worst offenders,” said Ben Perkins, sustainability manager, Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific.

“We are committed to doing our part to help protect our planet by making this simple but powerful change.”
