Australian industry veteran receives Queen’s Birthday Honours

Simon McGrath has worked for AccorHotels since 2005.

Simon McGrath of Accor has been named in the 2019 Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

McGrath was made a Member of the Order (AM) in the General Division, receiving the honour “for significant service to the tourism and hospitality sector”.

McGrath has worked as chief operating officer at AccorHotels Pacific since 2012 and has worked within the wider company since 2005 where he started as the general manager at Sofitel Reef Casino.

During his time at Accor, McGrath has also spent countless hours helping grow the industry, serving in roles like deputy president of the Accommodation Association of Australia, deputy chairman of the Tourism and Transport Forum and a board member of Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School among others.

The Member of the Order medal recognises members of the Australian at a national level.

The honour is awarded to 365 Australians each year on the Australian Queen’s Birthday holiday (10 June).
