A NEW TASTE IN THE SOUTH

The Rees Queenstown has announced Corey Hume, culinary Olympian and top 20 best young chefs in the world as their new executive chef. Bringing with him an impressive list of previous work experience, Hume will be taking over as of October 14th.

Hume was nominated by the New Zealand Chefs’ Association, the American Culinary Federation, and the World Association of Chefs’ Societies (or Worldchefs), for his prestigious place in the top 20 world’s best young chefs. Furthermore, Hume has represented New Zealand on the National Culinary Olympic team, amongst important and coveted roles across the world’s best restaurants.

“Corey is world-class—both in his creative calibre and kind-heartedness given his service record mentoring chefs and raising funds for important community causes,” said Mark Rose, chief executive of The Rees. “We’re all hugely excited to welcome him aboard to our team.”

Hume has noted that he would like to be able to give guests a true taste of the South, looking to source only the finest local ingredients, and throwing in a little theatre to his approach. Hume describes his signature style as honest and authentic, with a twist.
