SELINA OPENS SECOND UK HOTEL

Hotel group Selina has opened its second UK property in Birmingham.

The 39-room Selina Birmingham features an all-day Latin American restaurant called La Mariposa. Situated in the city's Jewellery Quarter, the hotel's lobby space will host exhibitions, as well as a coffee shop and cocktail bar. A garden extending from the restaurant will also serve cocktails.

The hotel also features an experience-led 'wellness room', a communal kitchen and library, activity centre, and a panoramic balcony overlooking the city skyline.

Each guest room showcases works by local artists. Rooms include a loft, a suite, standard and micro-sized double rooms, and shared rooms for between three and fourteen guests, including a female-only option.

The hotel joins Selina's 37-room hotel in Manchester's Northern Quarter, which opened in August. The company launched in 2015 and currently operates more than 50 locations in countries including Brazil, Columbia, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and Argentina.

Selina plans to expand into the US and European markets, with a target of 100,000 beds in 100 locations by 2022. It will open properties in Liverpool and Brighton next year.
