AWARD-WINNING BEER

Liberty Brewing won a host of awards at the 2019 New Zealand Brewer’s Guild Awards, even winning a medal for every beer they entered. Liberty also took out the Champion Award for Medium New Zealand Brewery and two Best in Class Trophies—Halo for New Zealand Styles, and Yakima Monster for International Pale Ale. As if this wasn’t reason enough for them to celebrate, Liberty also took out Champion New Zealand Exhibitor, meaning they were the best overall performer at the awards.

The medals they won included four golds, five silvers, three bronzes, and an Industry Award for best packaging. Liberty had just recently rebranded its entire range.

Liberty Brewing was initially founded in 2009 by Joe and Christina Wood as a way to market their homebrew supply business. As demand for their product grew, the Wood’s garage could no longer keep up, so they established a permanent brewhouse in Helensville.

The Liberty team is now seven strong, and customers can visit the taproom Friday to Sunday to enjoy one of the dozen beers on tap.
