Cordis Auckland’s Eight Restaurant is celebrating its ninth birthday in January, launching a range of special prizes to mark the occasion.
Three prizes are on offer:
- A buffet lunch for eight at Eight.
- A buffet dinner for eight at Eight.
- A grand ‘For the Foodies’ accommodation package prize, including a two night’s stay at Cordis Auckland, dinner and breakfast at Eight, valet parking, a bottle of bubbles, and a ‘GO Play’ card with access to 200+ discounted activities New Zealand-wide.

Year of the Rat
Alongside the lucky draw, the restaurant will be offering diners the chance to welcome in the Chinese Year of the Rat with a selection of festive Chinese fare for lunch and dinner.
Dishes on offer include XO marinated chicken, hoisin marinated sirloin, steamed whole fish, wok noodles with Chinese pork sausage and fish cakes, chicken noodle soup, melon and grapefruit salad, and more.
For dinner, guests can indulge in crispy pork belly, tamarind glazed pork scotch, Singapore soft shell crab, baby octopus, fried squid, and steamed whole fish with Cocos clams.
For dessert, authentic Chinese treats include black sesame ice cream, mandarin sorbet, green tea log, and sesame panna cotta, ensuring a sweet start to the Year of the Rat.
Kiwi High Tea
In celebration of local artisan products, executive chef Volker Marecek and his team are presenting a High Tea showcasing the very best of Kiwi summer ingredients.
From Elderflower jelly with beetroot relish, goat’s cheese and caraway tuile, and sweet pea panna cotta with crab and mango gel, to a vanilla and mint Chantilly tart with strawberry gel and fresh berries, there are bursts of beautiful summer colours to delight every palate.
A special Summer Delight tea will complement the menu – a blend of strawberry and kiwi tea topped with lemonade and a dash of freshly squeezed lemon. Delicate sandwiches and fluffy scones with artisan jam and clotted cream complete the experience, along with a choice of teas or coffees as recommended by the Lobby Lounge team.
