Mission Hill Hospitality, a KSL Capital Partners portfolio company specialising in select-service and extended-stay hotel investing, has acquired the Courtyard by Marriot Lenox and Hampton Inn & Suites Berkshires-Lenox. Situated in the heart of the Berkshire region of Western Massachusetts, the properties mark the 22nd and 23rd hotels to join the Mission Hill Hospitality portfolio since its launch in 2021. The terms of the deal are undisclosed.
The Berkshires are a favourite drive-to-leisure destination in New England, steeped in rich history and many attractions attracting tourists to Lenox all year round. The region is a crossroads of culinary culture, offering an eclectic mix of dining options, from unique casual eateries and quaint cafés to farm-to-table and fine dining restaurants. According to Mike Wilbert, Managing Director, Mission Hill Hospitality, the company is excited to continue its expansion in New England with its latest acquisitions.
The two new assets are located near many leisure activities, including outdoor recreation, music, arts, and foliage and sightseeing tours. Visitors can enjoy many outdoor activities during spring and summer, such as hiking, kayaking, fishing, golfing, camping, and yoga. Meanwhile, in Winter, travellers can enjoy some of the top ski areas on the East Coast, including Butternut Basin, Bousquet, Catamount, Jiminy Peak and more. Additionally, Lenox is home to the Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary, which boasts over 1,000 acres of trails that travel along the Lenox Mountain slopes.
Lenox is a historic small-town tourist destination with year-round attractions, like museums, theatres, parks and trails. It is the site of the Venfort Hall mansion, the Gilded Age Museum, The Mount, Edith Wharton's home, Shakespeare & Company and Tanglewood, the Boston Symphony Orchestra's summer home, and more. The hotels are also located near multiple art institutes, including the MASS MoCa, one of the most prominent contemporary visual and performing arts establishments in the United States, the Clark Art Institute, and the Norman Rockwell Museum. In addition to high tourism demand, more than 80,000 students are enrolled in the area's many universities.
The 92-key Courtyard by Marriot Lenox opened in 2017. Stretching across 6.5 acres, the hotel features The Bistro, which serves breakfast and all-day Starbucks coffee service. Other amenities include an outdoor fire pit, picnic and barbeque area, an indoor swimming pool and whirlpool, upgraded complimentary Wi-Fi, fitness centre, business centre, 1,394 square feet of meeting space, and an electric car charging station.
The 79-key Hampton Inn & Suites Berkshires-Lenox delivers guests an array of King Spa, King, Queen guestrooms and King studio suites, including accessible, connecting, and pet-friendly rooms. Guests can enjoy complimentary breakfast, an indoor pool, fitness centre, business centre, and 912 square feet of event space.
The Courtyard Lenox and The Hampton Inn & Suites Berkshires-Lenox are found off Route 20 and are easily accessible from several major highways. Amtrak, a passenger railroad service, recently launched the Berkshire Flyer train offering seasonal service between New York City and the nearby town of Pittsfield, just a 10-minute taxi or bus ride away from the hotels. There are also train services between Boston and Albany, New York to Pittsfield.
