Hilton continues to deliver on its goal to create five million learning and career growth opportunities for USA military veterans and their families, refugees, and youth worldwide by 2030.
As part of the company's ongoing pledge to create opportunities in the communities where it operates, Hilton has announced it will recruit 1,500 additional refugees throughout the next three years across its managed and franchised properties in the United States.
The announcement was revealed at the Tent Foundation U.S. Business Summit in New York, an event that brings together corporations with the goal of hiring and economically integrating refugees in the country, including recently arrived Afghan and Ukrainian refugees. Over the next three years, Hilton, in partnership with Tent, will help build inclusive career pathways across the industry.
"Creating a place where all are welcome is a part of Hilton's DNA and has long guided the investments we've made in those seeking career opportunities in hospitality, including refugees, military families, youth, and others," said Laura Fuentes, chief human resources officer, Hilton.
The hiring promise is part of Hilton's overall commitment to become an engine of opportunity in creating employment pathways for underrepresented groups. Since, 2015, Hilton has positively impacted more than 25,000 refugees through volunteering, in-kind donations, purchasing, training and employment. The company has also hired over 35,000 USA military veterans and their family members and offered career opportunities for youth in partnership with several nonprofit organisations.
As a long-standing partner of the Tent Partnership for Refugees, Hilton became the pioneering hospitality company to join Tent in 2018, vowing to impact 16,000 refugees by 2030 through job opportunities, hospitality skills training, in-kind donations and volunteer hours to refugee organisations.
Between 2019 and 2021, Hilton has helped more than 20,400 refugees globally – surpassing its original commitment to the Tent Partnership.
