Rydges Melbourne Opens After Refurbishment

EVT brand, Rydges, has welcomed a new era of the company by opening the newly transformed flagship Melbourne property.

The 370-key hotel is located within the heart of Melbourne's bustling theatre district, and has been reopened after undergoing a major transformation project that focused on the brand positioning as ‘refreshingly local’.

In a collaboration between EVT and interior designers, Luchetti Krelle, the newly designed hotel features softened tones and timber with rounded edges and tactile textures. The fit-out has been influenced by natural tones of eucalyptus green and rusty ochre, with a collection of local art paraded throughout the hotel.

Rydges Group general manager for hotel operations, Tony Cuthbertson, said that the Rydges brand is uniquely Australian-owned and operated, reflecting the designs of its hotel and the company.

“From the warm and welcoming styled rooms, suites and new apartments experience that rival the best views in Melbourne, to the state-of-the-art technology and world-class facilities and events spaces, we have created a property that features more on every level,” said Cuthbertson.

The newly refurbished hotel includes 310 King standard rooms, 35 suites, and 25 apartments. The complex also has a modern fitness studio with state-of-the-art technology, as well as the Bossley Bar and Restaurant on the ground floor.

A key area of focus for the redevelopment has been technology and guest experience. Guests will now be able to check in online via mobile device, and use in-room televisions for casting, room service, and more. The conference and event space within the hotel has been redesigned to include 11 meeting areas, the largest with a seven-metre-high ceiling.

“Guests feedback has already been extremely positive and the interest in our new conference and event spaces is strong. We are truly excited to bring this experience to the Australian market.”
