Hilton Lake Taupo Appoints Manager

Hilton Lake Taupo

Hilton Lake Taupo recently welcomed Janine Al-Rawi, a Hotel Manager with 10 years of experience within the Hilton Group and valued experience in hotels around the world, namely Austria, the United States, Dubai, and Germany.

Hailing from a small town in Germany, Al-Rawi’s wish growing up was to see the world, which motivated her to leave Germany in 2011 to pursue a hospitality degree in Austria. After her vocational education at  Forster’s Natur Resort in Neustift, Al-Rawi started her first role with Hilton as a Front Desk Agent in  Austin, Texas. It was not long before Al-Rawi rose through the ranks and eventually moved to Hilton  Dubai Creek as Front Office Supervisor. A woman with grit, determination and wisdom to utilize the resources within a global brand like Hilton, Al-Rawi went from strength to strength through Hilton, DoubleTree by Hilton and Hampton by Hilton properties between the United Arab Emirates, USA, Austria and Germany.

Al-Rawi served as Assistant Hotel Manager and Hotel Manager in Hampton by Hilton Stuttgart City Centre, Germany, for almost three years before taking on her role as Hilton Lake Taupo’s new Hotel Manager. Her key achievements include raising the Quality Assessment score from 70s to 90s for three years in a row, substantially raising the hotel's standards and the competition's bar.

Having experienced situations where she often found herself doubted as a woman holding higher ranks in her job, Al-Rawi appreciates the constant support and growth that Hilton provides her with and uses that as a motivation to keep pushing boundaries. She is, hence, proud of her contribution as a “Facilitator of Women in Leadership,” advocating strongly about filling gender gaps in the industry.

With the many Corporate Social Responsibility programmes found at Hilton Lake Taupo, Al-Rawi is also actively chairing committees such as Blue Energy, an initiative that encourages hotel property team members to give back to their communities.
