AUSTRALIA | QT Hotels & Resorts said it was a thrill to announce Luke Roberts-Lalli as General Manager of QT Newcastle.
Now calling the Steel City home, Luke Roberts-Lalli will bring with him over a decade of experience in luxury hospitality, across some of Australia’s most iconic destinations, from the Gold Coast to Melbourne. His appointment signals an exciting new era for QT Newcastle, nestled in the heart of the city’s vibrant East End.
Roberts-Lalli’s hospitality career began in 2010 as a porter on the Gold Coast, where his passion for guest experience was sparked. He rose through the ranks, going on to hold leadership roles in luxury hotels across Melbourne and the Gold Coast.
Joining the EVT family in 2022 as Executive Assistant Manager at QT Gold Coast, Luke quickly proved himself as a dynamic and driven leader. Recognised as a standout talent, he was selected in 2023 for EVT’s Executive Leadership Accelerator, a program dedicated to shaping future leaders across the group. Shortly after, he stepped into his first General Manager role at Rydges Cronulla.
David Sude, General Manager of QT Hotels & Resorts, welcomed the appointment.
“Luke’s drive, creativity and people-first leadership style make him a natural fit for QT. With deep experience across hotel operations, openings and food and beverage, he brings a fresh perspective and momentum to QT Newcastle. I look forward to watching the hotel continue to evolve under his direction.”
Reflecting on his appointment, Roberts-Lalli said QT has always felt like home.
“We celebrate bold creativity and I’m honoured to lead QT Newcastle in a city that shares those same values. I look forward to building on the strong foundation laid by Michael Stamboulidis and continuing his legacy as an active part of our local community,” he said.
QT Newcastle opened in 2022 as the group’s first regional hotel, offering 104 design-led guest rooms, Rooftop at QT, and signature dining destination, Jana. Since opening, the hotel has quickly become a cultural and culinary destination in the city.
