AUSTRALIA | Industry leader, Peter Minatsis, will be the inaugural General Manager of the soon-to-open Hannah St. Hotel in Melbourne.
TFE Hotels has announced the appointment of Peter Minatsis as General Manager of the highly anticipated 188-room Hannah St. Hotel Melbourne, set to open in Southbank this summer.
Peter Minatsis is a highly experienced hotelier whose career spans more than two decades across Australia, Fiji, and Canada. Known for his thoughtful leadership style and guest-first philosophy, he brings a strong operational foundation and a passion for building authentic, high-performing teams.
He joins TFE Hotels from Le Méridien Melbourne, where he led the successful pre-opening and brand relaunch in the Australian market. His previous roles include General Manager at Sheraton Melbourne Hotel, and senior leadership positions at The Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa and Sheraton Resort & Spa Tokoriki Island in Fiji. Peter Minatsis has also held senior positions with Marriott, Westin, and Sheraton properties across both Canada and Australia during his twenty-year career.
A respected voice in the industry, Minatsis currently serves as Chair of the Accommodation Australia (Victoria) State Advisory Group, where he continues to champion best practice and innovation in hospitality.
“We’re delighted to welcome Peter to the team as we prepare to open a hotel that reflects the design, culture and character of its surrounds,” said TFE Hotels’ Group Chief Operating Officer, Chris Sedgwick.
“His approach aligns beautifully with the hotel’s design-forward vision and the guest experience we’re looking to create.”
“With his breadth of experience, steady leadership and creative mindset, Peter is the ideal choice to open and lead Hannah St. Hotel. His ability to foster high-performing teams and collaborate across all aspects of the operation, from guest experience and service to design, shared services and the broader Queensbridge development, will be instrumental to the hotel’s success.”
Speaking on his appointment, Minatsis said Hannah St. Hotel is one of the most exciting new hotel experiences to launch in Melbourne, layered and considered in design, rich in local character, and unapologetically original.
“It feels like the kind of place Melbourne has been waiting for. I couldn’t be more excited to join the TFE team and help bring the brand vision to life,” said Minatsis.
Set to open in summer 2025, Hannah St. Hotel marks a significant addition to Melbourne’s innercity landscape, which is already primed for transformation through the AUD 1.7 billion Melbourne Arts Precinct redevelopment.
The AUD 150 million boutique hotel, developed by Time & Place, in partnership with MaxCap Group, TFE Hotels, and construction specialists Hickory, will provide a further boost to Southbank’s tourism offering.
Located within the landmark Queensbridge Building, a new multi-use development in the heart of Southbank, Hannah St. Hotel forms part of a broader vision to revitalise the area and connect hospitality, culture, and urban life. Purpose-built for the Collection by TFE Hotels brand, Hannah St. Hotel is designed to reflect and amplify the unique character of its surroundings. Located at the convergence of the Yarra River, South Melbourne, and the city’s vibrant Southbank arts and events precincts, the 188-room Hannah St. Hotel spans 10 levels and will feature a neighbourhood restaurant and bar, as well as an elevated bar and events space.
