CAMBODIA | Crowne Plaza will debut in Phnom Penh, marking the opening of a new 276-key property in the heart of the capital city.
IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) has announced the signing of Crowne Plaza Phnom Penh in partnership with real estate development and investment company Continent Crown Investment Management Co., Ltd.
Integrated within CG Fortune Centre, a mixed-use development featuring office, retail, and entertainment outlets, the 276-room property will rebrand in two phases following its conversion from VM Hotel.
Crowne Plaza Phnom Penh will open with 137 refurbished rooms and suites by the end of this year, after which a new extension wing with an additional 139 keys will be ready by 2027, increasing both guest room and meeting space inventories.
“The signing of Crowne Plaza Phnom Penh is an exciting landmark for us and a major step forward in our ambition to grow our presence in the country. It is a fantastic addition to a portfolio of four open and pipeline IHG hotels, including Six Senses Krabey Island," said Shi’ai Liang, Senior Director, Development, South East Asia & Korea.
“We are delighted to work with Continent Crown Investment Management Co., Ltd and thank them for their ongoing trust and partnership. Together, we will introduce the reimagined Crowne Plaza brand to Phnom Penh and introduce our guests to its signature hallmarks of curated social spaces and purpose-driven experiences.”
Crowne Plaza Phnom Penh will be situated on Russian Boulevard in the Pou Senchey district, an industrial hub that is home to nearly 40 percent of the country’s factories and encompasses the Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone (PPSEZ), the location of more than 100 businesses.
When fully opened, facilities at Crowne Plaza Phnom Penh will include 276 guest rooms and suites, over 1,000 square metres of meeting spaces, three restaurants and a bar, a swimming pool and fitness centre.
Conversions represented about 57 percent of the company’s room openings globally in H1 2025, while in Southeast Asia, conversions represented more than a third of its signings and about a quarter of its openings over the same period. This demonstrates the increasing demand from ownership groups to gain fast access to IHG’s enterprise system and channels to support performance and drive returns.
“We are pleased to partner with IHG for the first time and together develop our vision for this fantastic hotel,” said Wei Ma, Director, Continent Crown Investment Management Co.
“Crowne Plaza quickly became our chosen brand for this project, thanks to its global reputation for delivering outstanding stays that cater for guests travelling for business, leisure or a blend of both."
