Michael Issenberg, the former CEO of Accor Asia-Pacific, will lead the Tourism Australia Board of Directors as the organisation gears up for border reopenings.
Accor executive Michael Issenberg has been named as the new chairman of Tourism Australia as the organisation prepares for the reopening of international borders.
Three-time winner of the Asia-Pacific Hotelier of the Year HM Awards, Issenberg's appointment was welcomed by the federal minister for trade, tourism and investment Dan Tehan, who said Issenberg's leadership would be vital to promoting Australia's world-class tourist attractions and enticing more tourists.
Issenberg will replace Bob East, who served as chairman of Tourism Australia since 2017. Tehan expressed his gratitude to East, thanking him for his commitment and service.
Along with East, Tourism Australia said goodbye to Baillie Lodges co-founder Hayley Baillie who is leaving after six years on the board. Baillie was the force driving Tourism Australia's Food and Wine Advisory Board as part of the Restaurant Australia campaign.
Additional movements include Annabel Dolphin, RACQ non-executive director, joining the Board, Sealink Travel Group chairman Jeffrey Ellison to serve a second term as deputy chairman, and finally, the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Tourism Division chairman John Hart was reappointed for another three-year term.
