Both Lake Wanaka’s Edgewater Hotel and Queenstown’s mi-pad will be requiring all guests to be double-vaxxed.

Lake Wanaka’s Edgewater Hotel will be accepting only fully vaccinated guests from Friday 3 December, to coincide with the introduction of the new COVID-19 Protection Framework. This policy will also apply to staff and suppliers – in essence, anyone who visits the hotel in any capacity.

The hotel’s management and the board had been carefully considering the best way to navigate the complex rules and regulations around safely operating in the COVID-19 environment, before arriving that the blanket decision.

“The board and senior management had been actively considering the safest way continue to welcome our guests and the conclusion was to accept only fully vaccinated guests, staff and suppliers at the hotel,” noted According to General Manager Catherine Bone.

“After months of disruptions, including two closures during the nationwide lockdowns, we want to do the utmost to avoid future disruptions, provide reasonable certainty for future bookings and continue to welcome guests at our lake-front location.”

Meanwhile, the team at mi-pad Queenstown is very excited to have Kiwis come and stay and enjoy another amazing Summer in Central Otago. It goes without saying that the first and foremost priority is guest health and wellbeing.

From 11.59pm December 2, 2021 all new guests checking in to stay at mi-pad Queenstown will be required to:

  • Be double vaccinated (for those aged over 16) and show their New Zealand Government ‘My Vaccine Pass’ on arrival.
  • Your 'My Vaccine Pass' QR code will be scanned upon arrival by our mi-pad team using the NZ Pass Verifier. This information will be stored within the app as required.
  • Sanitise your hands and sign in using the NZ COVID Tracer App which is available at the check-in counter.
  • Wear masks in all hotel public spaces including reception, lobby, elevator and hotel hallways.
  • Comply with any additional public health measures (including social distancing) that are in place at the time of your stay.

With the holiday season upon us, it is likely that other accommodation providers will follow suit.
