Belmond Hotel, The Cadogan, has released an immersive afternoon tea experience that takes guests on a culinary adventure through the pages of French novelist Jules Verne’s classic stories.
Located in Chelsea, London, The Cadogan is known for its rich history and popularity amongst the likes of Oscar Wilde, Mary Quant and Mick Jagger. The new luxurious afternoon tea is served in The Cadogan's premium Maison Lounge and curated by Head Pastry Chef, Pierre Morvan, and Executive Chef, Chris Hill.
Its assortment of finger sandwiches are themed around the exciting locations featured in the Verne novel "Around the World in 80 Days". Guests can expect to taste an array of flavours, ranging from Bombay's aromas of spiced chicken and mango chutney, to Hong Kong's flavours of spiced pork paired with onion bread.
The Cadogan's indulgent desserts are imaginative and expertly crafted. Verne’s “The Steam House'' inspired its chocolate and caramel tart, which sits atop a miniature dark chocolate elephant, an ode to the steam powered mechanical elephant featured in the novel. The mushroom-shaped blackberry mouse is a nod to Verne’s “Journey to the Centre of the Earth”, while its chestnut and vanilla cake captures the spirit of “Five Weeks in a Balloon”.
Guests are also served a range of flavoured teas from the luxury tea brand Newby Teas, which are presented in a mini hourglass that accurately measures its brewing time. Alternatively, customers can opt for a glass of Rathfinny Classic Cuvee champagne, or the Cadogan’s speciality Bon Voyage cocktail, a blend of spiced rum, grapefruit and pineapple juice, lime, Falernum and Grenadine syrups.
The Cadogan’s Literary Afternoon Tea is available seven days a week.
