For the first time since 2020, Qantas is preparing for the first service to New York and has chosen to celebrate the occasion.
The flights will operate three times a week from the 14th of June, departing Sydney and stopping in Auckland before a 17+ hour flight to New York. The service previously operated by stopping over in Los Angeles. It is expected to expand to four flights weekly by October.
The relaunch of the New York flights brings Qantas closer to returning to 100 percent of its international network pre-COVID capacity by March 2024.
The airline will offer travellers several customer initiatives on the service, including complimentary pyjamas and an amenity kit designed by Australian fashion designer, Rebecca Vallance. The items are said to feature the iconic Qantas logo, known as the ‘Roo,’ and the signature Rebecca Vallance logo.
Rebecca Vallance said it was a thrill to combine her passion for travel and fashion to create the one-off Qantas design inspired by New York’s sophistication and style.
“It’s an honour to partner with the iconic Australian brand, Qantas. New York has always felt like a second home to me, and I’m so proud to be working with the national carrier to offer travellers some keepsake Pyjamas and amenity kits to enjoy long after they have landed,” said Vallance.
Two one-off ball gowns have also been designed for the service, one with an Art Deco-inspired pattern and the other made from a metallic-Italian fabric.
Qantas will also usher out a New York-inspired menu for the route, taking staples of popular local foods such as spaghetti and meatballs, bagels and cream cheese, and pecan pie.
