One of the world’s largest food and packaging supply chain distributors has secured a site in Brisbane Airport’s thriving industrial precinct amid soaring demand for its warehousing facilities.
Brisbane Airport Corporation is set to deliver an 8,000 sqm temperature-controlled distribution centre within the rapidly expanding Airport Industrial Park for Martin Brower, a leading global supply chain solutions provider for some of the world's leading brands.
Brisbane Airport Corporation Executive General Manager of Commercial, Martin Ryan, welcomed the new partnership, noting how both organisations are committed to embedding sustainability into the project.
“Martin Brower aligns with Brisbane Airport’s sustainability strategy and ongoing transformation to a dynamic airport community where the value chain of a business can be consolidated in a single, well-connected location,” Ryan said.
“This warehouse has been designed to suit Martin Brower’s unique requirements and incorporates a range of sustainability features and initiatives, targeting a five-Star Green Star rating. With their new distribution centre positioned here at Brisbane Airport, Martin Brower will be connected to the city’s best transport networks.”
Brisbane Airport Corporation will oversee the design and delivery of the development within the 100-hectare Airport Industrial Park.
A sod-turning ceremony with representatives from Brisbane Airport, Martin Brower, and builder Tomkins Commercial signalled the commencement of construction on the site. Development of the 23,702 sqm site is expected to be completed in early 2025. Once operational, the facility will provide jobs for approximately 100 people. The purpose-built distribution centre will deliver chilled, frozen, and ambient storage capability. The site will also provide refuelling, truck wash, and weighbridge facilities, and parking for 60 cars and 13 heavy vehicles.
“We are committed to creating a smart, sustainable supply chain, and this site will play a pivotal role in helping Martin Brower achieve a 50 percent reduction in emissions by 2030," said Martin Brower’s Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand, Scott Hanigan.
“The establishment of the new distribution and supply chain centre at Airport Industrial Park allows us to double our capacity in Queensland, reflecting our commitment to enhancing our logistical capabilities and ensuring we can continue to deliver the highest quality service to our customers.”
Martin Brower will join Aramex Australia, Superior Food Services and Air Menzies at Airport Industrial Park, which is strategically located with unparalleled transport access to air, road and sea through direct links to the Port of Brisbane and adjacent industrial suburbs.
Brisbane Airport is home to more than 600 employers with more than 20,000 employees working across the precinct, with this expected to grow by a further 10,000 people in the coming decade.
The development is part of the $5 billion Future BNE transformation, preparing the airport for the coming decade and beyond.
