AUSTRALIA | Research has revealed that travelling can cause high levels of stress, which has been accommodated for by hotel providers.
It's a cliche for any Airport - long security lines, flight delays, cancellations and chaotic car parks that do nothing but increase high stress levels when at the airport. While travel is a time for relaxation and adventure, airports often interfere with this enjoyment and cause undue anxiety, particularly for frequent flyers.
In a recent survey of Australian business travellers, 47 percent said frequent travel adds to their stress and burnout. The survey also found 36 percent of frequent flyers sought mental health support to cope with the stress of work travel, and 37 percent experienced exhaustion, 34 percent anxiety and 32 percent stress, with a higher proportion of women reporting these emotions.
Melbourne Airport welcomed record international arrivals in March, and the increased foot traffic has no doubt added to high stress levels. There is a growing need for effective solutions to help alleviate airport anxiety, and the newly-refurbished PARKROYAL Melbourne Airport offers a variety of ways to help travellers start or end their journey on a positive note.
“Our hotel offers guests unrivalled convenience, with guests able to travel completely undercover to access their terminal within minutes, without the need to navigate shuttle bus schedules, pay for a ride, or expose themselves to the elements while wheeling suitcases across concrete footpaths,” said Cameron Mead, General Manager of PARKROYAL Melbourne Airport.
As the only hotel directly connected to Melbourne Airport’s terminals via an undercover pedestrian skybridge, guests can do away with early morning drives or transfers to the airport, meaning they can begin their getaway relaxed and rejuvenated. The hotel also offers a variety of packages and amenities designed to reduce airport stress.
The new-look onsite Airo Restaurant and Bar Airo provide an elevated yet convenient option for food and beverages away from the foot traffic of the airport. The restaurant’s Asian-Australian fusion menu, crafted by Executive Chef Jee Whan Lee, combines locally sourced produce with Southeast Asian flavours and spices. This delicious fare is served in a stylish and comfortable setting, featuring neutral materials, calming colours, and natural daylight. It’s the perfect spot for some snacks between flights, such as Cheesy Wagyu Meatballs or Korean Fried Chicken, or for a calming drink incorporating indigenous herbs such as lemongrass or wolfberries.
