SPAIN | Amadeus has partnered with car rental experience providers for travellers, adapting to new electric mandates and policies.
Amadeus, in collaboration with K10 Mobility and Eccocar, has announced a partnership that is set to transform the car rental experience for travellers. This collaboration has introduced a fully digitalised self-service process, allowing travellers to skip the car rental counter and unlock their rental cars without any physical keys.
Amadeus has brought significant value to the partnership with K10 Mobility and Eccocar by integrating K10 Mobility's content into Amadeus' systems. Travel sellers can now book K10 Mobility content and bring a full digital experience to their customers. This integration includes all necessary information, such as images, terms and conditions, and the "Keyless" labelling on relevant options.
By eliminating the waiting times associated with traditional car rentals, this project significantly improves the traveller experience. Before arriving at their destination,
travellers would validate their documentation, sign the contract, and make the payment online. Upon arrival, they receive instructions to find the vehicle and unlock it directly from their mobile phone.
Eccocar specialises in technological solutions for self-service vehicle rentals, digitising the entire process from online check-in to keyless access to offer, together with Amadeus and K10 Mobility, a completely autonomous and seamless experience for travellers.
K10 Mobility, a car rental company in the Balearic Islands, enhances the partnership by offering a fully digitalised self-service car rental process. This includes keyless access technology, which allows travellers to skip the car rental counter and handle the entire process on their phones. This innovation significantly improves convenience and efficiency for travellers, making the car rental experience seamless and autonomous.
“At Eccocar, we are pioneers in offering self-service rental solutions to the rent-a-car sector,” said Fernando Martin, Co-founder and CEO, Eccocar.
“With this alliance with Amadeus and K10 Mobility, we are taking a step further by also integrating travel agencies, creating a more innovative and impactful solution for both travellers and the travel industry.”
Alejandro Costantino Oglini, CEO, K10 Mobility, said this collaboration underscored the dedication to innovation and improving the overall travel experience for customers.
“With our extensive fleet in the Balearic Islands, including ZERO-emission options, K10 Mobility is committed to sustainability and providing superior service, especially in high-demand tourist areas such as Ibiza and Mallorca."
“Skip the Counter” and “keyless” represent key technological leaps for the sector, substantially improving the user experience for customers while providing travel sellers with the ability to offer a differentiated service in the market. The project contributes to the ongoing digitalisation and modernisation of the tourism sector in Spain as the country aims to increase its competitiveness.
“We are thrilled to partner with K10 Mobility and Eccocar to revolutionise the car rental experience for travellers and travel sellers. By introducing keyless access technology and digitalising the entire rental process, we are not only enhancing convenience
for travellers but also setting a new standard in the industry,” said Peter Altmann, Vice President, Mobility and Travel Protection, Hospitality, Amadeus.
“This collaboration underscores our commitment to innovation and improving the overall travel experience. We believe that this project will significantly boost operational efficiency, improve customer satisfaction, and drive business performance for our partners."
This project is partly funded by the Next Generation EU Fund, a significant initiative by the European Union aimed at supporting industry recovery and fostering a more resilient, greener, and digital Europe. Digital transformation for various sectors, including travel, is one of its key areas of focus. This technology will be rolled out to more markets and providers, in line with Amadeus’ strategy to transform the industry, provide a seamless experience for travelers and drive digitalisation.
