At its annual general meeting, Hospitality New Zealand has welcomed new president Kristy Phillips for its next term.

Hospitality New Zealand has acknowledged the contribution of outgoing president, Nick Keene, and welcomed new president, Kristy Phillips, a change of leadership confirmed at its Annual General Meeting.

“I want to thank Nick for his eight years on the Board and four years as President of the association,” said Steve Armitage, Chief Executive of Hospitality New Zealand.

"Nick has presided over one of the most turbulent periods our sector has had to endure, and has done this with a clear and calm demeanour which has earned him great respect. He has also been a staunch advocate for the change we have undertaken in recent times, giving great confidence to me and the team to embrace new ways of doing things. We wish him well for the future.

Armitage also welcomed Kristy Phillips as she prepares to take the presidential chains.  Phillips has been a strong voice around our board table for the last seven years, most recently serving as Vice President, and Hospitality New Zealand looked forward to her continued contributions to the organisation as President.

Keene said it has been an honour to serve the association as President, and he leaves with confidence and pride in the platform the organisation has built for future growth and resilience in Hospitality NZ.

"I want to express my sincere gratitude to the board for their guidance, to our membership for their trust, and especially to Steve Armitage and his team for their dedication and hard work in implementing Hospitality NZ’s vision,” said Keene.

“It has been both challenging and rewarding to serve this resilient industry, and I remain committed to supporting the association through its next chapter, albeit in a different capacity.”

Phillips said it is an immense privilege to be taking on the role of Hospitality New Zealand’s President.

“I’ve loved my career in hospitality from working in venues to owning my own businesses, and I’m excited to step into leading an organisation and industry I’m so passionate about. I am optimistic for the future growth and development of our industry, and I look forward to serving and representing our members over the coming term,” said Phillips.

Hospitality New Zealand also welcomed new board members Alexander Siebentritt (Nelson) and Garth Solly (Northland), and acknowledges outgoing board member Simon White (Wellington). Siebentritt was also the recipient of the Lynn Braddock Award, presented at the AGM for dedication and service at a Hospitality NZ Branch level.
