After being open for just one week, Switzerland’s first and only pod hotel had closed its doors.
The Japanese-inspired Capsule Hotel in Lucerne offered 18 pods in various sizes.
However, just a week after opening, the hotel has been forced to close because it did not secure the correct building permits.
A spokesperson for the hotel said there had been a misunderstanding with authorities during construction and the decision to stay open was out of their control. The hotel is working towards a solution to have the hotel up and running again as soon as possible.
The city’s planning authority indicated there were currently no building permits for the hotel but were eager for the hotel to reopen.
Currently, there is no reopening date in sight.
