FRANCE | Sirha Lyon is preparing for a larger international presence in 2027, with new exhibition sectors, additional floor space, and a stronger focus on bringing hospitality and foodservice buyers together with suppliers.
The 23rd edition will take place from 21 to 25 January 2027 at Eurexpo Lyon in France, bringing together manufacturers, chefs, restaurateurs, hoteliers, and businesses supplying the international foodservice industry.
Organisers have announced an additional 7,000 square metres of exhibition space, taking the event to nearly 150,000 square metres. More than 4,300 exhibitors and brands have already been confirmed, with international exhibitors accounting for 26 percent of the total.
Luc Dubanchet, Managing Director of Sirha Food, outlined plans for the event at its launch conference in Paris earlier this month. Among the changes is a revised exhibition layout, with more clearly defined areas designed to make it easier for visitors to concentrate on the products, equipment, and services relevant to their businesses.
One of the most significant additions is Hospitality Factory, a dedicated area covering hotel and restaurant design, furnishings, materials, and tableware. It brings together suppliers whose products influence both the practical operation of a hospitality business and the environment experienced by guests.
Pizza World is another new sector, providing a dedicated space for equipment manufacturers, ingredient suppliers, and businesses involved in the international pizza market.
The beverage offering is also being expanded, covering coffee, bar equipment, alcoholic beverages, and the growing no- and low-alcohol category.
Meanwhile, the Gourmet area will concentrate on premium food products, giving specialist producers and suppliers a dedicated environment in which to meet professional buyers.
For New Zealand hospitality operators and foodservice suppliers attending the exhibition, these changes should make it easier to explore international developments without having to work through an increasingly large and diverse exhibition floor.
Kitchen equipment remains a substantial part of Sirha Lyon, with manufacturers presenting developments in food preparation, cooking, refrigeration, and professional kitchen operations.
Digital technology, bakery and pastry equipment, food products, transport solutions, and packaging will also feature.
The exhibition provides an opportunity to compare equipment and operating systems from competing manufacturers, particularly for businesses considering kitchen redevelopment, equipment replacement, or new foodservice concepts.
Sirha Lyon is also introducing revised visitor pathways, guided visits, and additional meeting facilities to help buyers make better use of their time at the event.
The programme will feature 28 competitions and approximately 220 speakers, alongside industry presentations and discussions examining developments in professional foodservice.
Among the major attractions will be the 40th anniversary of the Bocuse d'Or, the international culinary competition established in 1987. The anniversary will recognise four decades of competition and the chefs who have helped establish its international reputation.
The World Pastry Cup will also return, with international teams demonstrating their skills in pastry, chocolate, sugar, and ice disciplines.
Both competitions attract significant international attention, but they also provide professional chefs with opportunities to see new ingredients, techniques, equipment, and approaches to presentation.
The exhibition's international reputation continues to attract substantial attendance. Sirha Lyon 2025 welcomed more than 257,000 professional visitors, including 15 percent from overseas.
For manufacturers and suppliers, the concentration of international buyers provides opportunities to establish distribution relationships, introduce new products, and assess potential markets.
New Zealand businesses considering European equipment, ingredients, or hospitality concepts will have the opportunity to speak directly with manufacturers and compare what is available internationally.
For those attending with purchasing decisions in mind, the expanded exhibition and more specialised sectors should provide greater scope to examine alternative suppliers, explore product developments, and establish commercial relationships.
With registration now open, Sirha Lyon 2027 is preparing to bring a substantial cross-section of the international hospitality and foodservice industry together in France next January.
