Japanese chain launches new brand targeted at millennials

Japanese hospitality company Fujita Kanko Inc. has launched a new hotel brand aimed at adventure-seeking millennials.

The new brand Tavinos is launching off the back of over 70 other established Fujita Kanko properties.

It will implement technology like an AI concierge which will provide local information and match guests together who’re interested in similar activities, and automated check-in/check-out systems. The design concept of the brand is based on Japanese pop culture, with manga-style art covering the walls.

“There are already affordable accommodations throughout Japan, but travelling millennials are hungry for the community of a hostel and the professionalism and expertise of an experienced hotelier,” said Akira Segawa, president and CEO, Fujita Kanko.

“Tavinos will offer what outgoing and adventurous travellers want: the opportunity to meet interesting people, plan activities together, and explore.”

The first Tavinos to open will be the 188-room in Hamamatsu-cho, Tokyo, opening August 2019, followed by a 278-room Tavinos opening in Asakusa in May 2020.
