Wyndham Destinations Going Green Across Asia-Pacific

Wyndham Destinations

Wyndham Destinations has introduced a framework of sustainability initiatives across its South Pacific portfolio in an attempt to prioritise green efforts and ensure consistency across the network.

Effective across its Ramada by Wyndham, Wyndham resorts and the Club Wyndham network, the company has introduced bamboo RFID room keycards instead of plastic room keys.

The new technology will help reduce paper consumption, and the effort has been extended to corporate, where employees have been encouraged to reduce paper use by over 80 percent.

Single-use plastic is on the way out, with bulk amenities replacing individual bottles for hair and body products in guest rooms and club apartments. Bio cutlery and packaging to replace plastic utensils.

Plastic balloons will also be removed from events and conferences.

Further initiatives will include an annual litter clean-up event at each property while composting, and vegetable/herb gardens will pop up at many resorts.

Energy-efficient lighting will be rolled out across resorts, and old furniture from future refurbishments will be donated or recycled.

All initiatives will be reviewed monthly and recorded with optimisation programmes to maximise efforts, especially for energy and water usage.

Wyndham Destinations president and managing director Barry Robinson said the company was leading the way to make every customer point more sustainable and eco-friendly and will continue to look for ways to continuously evolve.
