Jade Bolstad, General Manager, Mövenpick Hotel Wellington

With a passion for people and the excitement of hotels, Jade Bolstad embarked on her hospitality journey with Accor hotels in her hometown of Sydney in 2004.

With 18 years of experience, she has served as General Manager at Grand Mercure Wellington and Ibis Wellington; Executive Assistant Manager at bis Singapore Bencoolen; Rooms Division Manager at Novotel Melbourne on Collins and Ibis Melbourne; and Front Office Manager at Mercure Sydney, to name a few.

Currently based in Wellington, New Zealand, Bolstad is now the General Manager at Mövenpick Hotel Wellington, the former Grand Mercure Wellington.

"I love it. It's fast-paced, rewarding, and every day is different."

Steeped in Swiss tradition and modernity, the 114-room Mövenpick Hotel Wellington is nestled between the scenic hills, restaurants and theatres of Cuba Street, one of Wellington's most-loved and well-known streets.

The hotel's point of difference is its premium leisure offerings, including a Kids Retreat playroom, heated lap pool, sauna and gym. Additionally, it boasts panoramic 180-degree views of the cityscape.

According to Bolstad, today's travellers are now seeking unforgettable experiences, not simply processes and basic essentials.

"Luxury is accessible to everyone now, and guests want to feel that sense of exclusivity."

Therefore, at Mövenpick Hotel Wellington, they have elevated the journeys of its guests with curated stays, which are both personalised and luxurious, to create meaningful and memorable experiences for business and leisure guests alike.

Due to the pandemic, hotels across the nation have been reinventing their business models. Likewise, Mövenpick Hotel Wellington has also decided to do a few things but do them well.

"We do not want to limit our service offering, but we need to deliver it in a new way. So, we have increased our honesty and communication with guests to bring them on the journey with us and manage expectations."

Bolstad would like to thank all the domestic travellers who have supported the tourism and hospitality sector in New Zealand.

"Without them, we may not have all come out the other side of this, and we are very excited to welcome everyone."

Only recently opened this year on 1 July, the current focus for Bolstad and her team is to take Mövenpick Hotel Wellington to the market in style and impress as many travellers as possible.
