Cordis Announces Additions to Senior Leadership Team

With the recent Pinnacle Tower expansion, Cordis Auckland is now the largest hotel in New Zealand and has welcomed Eduard Sarton and Carey White as its new General Manager and Director of Human Resources, respectively.

Cordis Auckland's new tower boosts the hotel to 640 rooms, with over $170 million worth of investments. They have the most extensive MICE offering of any hotel in the country, with 18 event spaces. Food and beverage offerings have also been enhanced with an expansion of the beloved Eight Restaurant, an exclusive new Club Lounge and a new all-local bar - Our Land is Alive.

Sarton will commence his role with Cordis Auckland on Monday, 3 October 2022, bringing a wealth of management experience from across Asia. Starting his career in food and beverage, he held several senior roles at the Shangri-La group before serving in General Manager positions with Rosewood Hotels and Resorts in 2014. His most recent assignment was General Manager for the New World Saigon Hotel, a Rosewood hotel where he oversaw an inventory of 520 rooms.

"We are thrilled to have Eduard on board after an extensive global search," said the hotel's Managing Director Franz Mascarenhas. "This is a pivotal time in the hotel's growth, and his experience managing large operations will hold us in good stead to ensure guest expectations are exceeded and employee motivation is high, putting us in a position to maximise the hotel's profitability."

"I am excited to be heading to New Zealand, working for a hotel highly regarded by so many," said Sarton. "I hope to continue the mission of building great memories for guests, listening to their needs and continuing the world-class, heartfelt service Cordis Auckland is known for."

In September, Cordis Auckland welcomed their new Director of Human Resources, Carey White. White boasts an extensive background in Human Resources, especially in hospitality environments, wherein he has worked at several global hotel groups, including Intercontinental and Shangri La. His experience has seen him successfully complete assignments in the Maldives, Fiji, the United Arab Emirates, Dubai and New Zealand.

White's career in New Zealand includes a year as Vice Principal of the regarded Pacific International Hotel Management School (PIHMS) in Palmerston North.
