Wyndham to Open 50 Hotels by Year End

Wyndham Hotels and Resorts is expected to surpass 50 properties in Australasia by the end of this year, with the announcement of four key signings and two additional openings in the region. The company announced the milestone during the 14th Asia Pacific Hotel Industry Conference and Exhibition, which recently took place at the Adelaide Oval on the third and fourth of May.

Wyndham Hotels and Resorts Vice President of Operations for South East Asia and Pacific Rim, Ben Schumacher said that reaching 50 properties was an exciting moment for the company.

“We are thrilled to be so close to exceeding this important milestone and look forward to celebrating the occasion with all partners, teams, and guests in the coming months,” said Schumacher.

“We remain true to our mission of making hotel travel possible for all and through the recent signing of our 100 millionth Wyndham Rewards member, coupled with our strong presence across Australasia, we look forward to welcoming guests and delivering our Count on Me service across our great network of properties.”

The other signings made by the group include Ramada by Wyndham Kings Head, Adelaide, which is due to open by the end of 2024. The site of the former Kings Head Hotel was one of the oldest historic pubs in Australia, dating back to 1848.

On home soil, Wyndham will introduce a Wyndham Garden Suits location on Lake Tekapo in the South Island by mid-2024. The hotel is planned to be a 60-room complex and will be operated by the Marsden Group.

The company recently opened Tryp by Wyndham Tory Street, Wellington, as well as Tryp by Wyndham on Pulteney Street in Adelaide in the first quart of this year. Wyndham is also due to open a second La Quinta property in New Zealand in late 2023. La Quinta by Wyndham Ellerslie is planned to open in the fourth quarter of 2023 and will be followed by La Quinta by Wyndham Parnell in Auckland next year. The hotels have been developed by Safari Group, and will be managed by Safari Hotels.
