Townsville To Get New Luxury Hotel

The Northern Queensland region of Townsville is set to open a new luxury hotel developed by family-owned tourism and hospitality company, Morris Group. The project is expected to cost $88 million.

The new lifestyle resort and hotel known as Ardo will be the first luxury hotel in the area.  The complex will house 132 rooms and suits, as well as ocean views, a day spa venue, and a world-class rooftop pool deck.

Chris Morris, founder of Morris Group and executive chairman, said that the location has a lot of potential for a hotel and lifestyle resort.

“We know that North Queensland has so much to offer as a destination, so there is huge demand for domestic and international visitors to travel here,” said Morris.

“But what we’ve discovered is there is still a gap in the market for luxury accommodation, so what we’re doing with Ardo is building on what we already do so well, providing another opportunity for high-end experiences in this very special part of the world.”

The project will include Marmor, a rooftop restaurant, which will offer contemporary Australian cuisine, whilst the ground floor dining venue, Terasu, will offer a menu of traditional Japanese offerings. The nearby Morris Group resort, The Ville, will also open its amenities to Ardo guests, which include a casino, gym, swim-up bar, and oceanside swimming pool.

“While The Ville provides relaxed, tropical surroundings and casual sophistication, Ardo will offer a luxury accommodation experience for travellers seeking a more high-end stay,” said Morris.

“With Ardo joining The Ville, and the Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre on the Breakwater, what we’ve created will enhance the precinct, and become the region’s leisure and entertainment hub.”
