Avani Mooloolaba Set to Begin

Mooloolaba

The new Avani Hotel complex in Mooloolaba is set to commence in September after a lengthy planning and development process. Construction on the hotel will cost AU$250 million, adding a new luxury four-star accommodation facility to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.

Standing at 13 storeys tall, the building was awarded the ‘go ahead’ by the Sunshine Coast Council, which Councillor Joe Natoli said would boost the local economy through the creation of jobs, as well as attracting tourists to the area.

The property will have 180 rooms and a rooftop bar, pool, restaurant, conference and wedding venue. Its location on the corner of Brisbane Road and First Avenue has given new potential to the potential location.

“The decision was made as a result of Council’s agreement in November 2018 to split the Brisbane Road car park into two parcels, one facing Smith Street and now known as ParknGo Mooloolaba Central car park, and the other facing Brisbane Road,” said Natoli.

Natoli added that KPAT was chosen as the ideal developer for the location in 2020.

“This new 4.5-star hotel is a key initiative that will help revitalise Mooloolaba and help cater for the growing number of visitors to our region, as well as provide experiences for local residents.”

KPAT managing director, Kenneth Wagner, said that this new property would be an excellent addition to KPAT’s portfolio, with construction beginning in only a matter of weeks.

“We have been working towards this project for a number of years, and between ourselves, Minor Hotels and Sunshine Coast Council, we are looking forward to delivering a project of local significance for the Sunshine Coast,” said Wagner.

Avani’s brand is focused on high-quality hotel amenities and is said to support the Mooloolaba and greater Sunshine Coast area for future hotel development.
